Beginner

Certification Description: Open Water Diver is the first scuba certification level. A highly trained PADI Instructor will teach you how to scuba dive in a relaxed, supportive learning environment. By the end of the course, you'll have the skills and knowledge to dive at home or abroad and be an ambassador for the underwater world.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Learn about scuba diving principles and terminology (either offline or online), then learn basic scuba skills in a pool (or pool-like environment) with a highly trained PADI Instructor. When you're ready, make four dives in an open water environment (the ocean, spring, or lake) with your instructor supporting you every step of the way.

  • Independent Study: 5-10 hours

  • Dive Instruction: 4-7 days

Prerequisites: 

  • Able to swim; medically fit for diving

  • Minimum age: 10 years or older

  • Practical Dive Depth:

    • minimum - 40ft

    • maximum allowed - 60ft

ACS invests the necessary time for those needing additional support at no additional cost and without bias.  We work with students with disabilities, have a fear of diving, or simple prefer in-person instruction rather than independent study.  We invest our time and resources so students are safe and confident in their newly developed skills, so they may enjoy their time in the water.

The Seal Team is for young scuba divers who are looking to prepare for their open water certification but don't meet the age requirement.

 

Description: Divers learn basic scuba skills while having fun

 

Location: Shallow controlled environment

 

Pre-requisites:

  • 8 years of age or older

  • Kids should be comfortable in the water

  • Parental approval is required

Speciality Courses

This course is designed for novice divers. It will allow you to safely navigate below 60 ft, & improve dive skills.

This course will improve your dive buddy skills, demonstrate how to help others, fix minor gear issues & use emergency oxygen kit.

Dive with nitrox (EANx), increase your bottom time, use an oxygen air analyzer & set dive computer.

Allow divers to refresh SCUBA skills.

Learn professional underwater photography.

Learn to plan deep dives, manage your gas supply and identify and mitigate nitrogen narcosis.

Learn to navigate underwater like a pro.

This course will teach how to safely explore wrecks.  It includes surveying skills, the use of lines and reels, and avoidance of common dangers associated with wreck diving.

Learn drift diving tips from an experienced instructor and practice buoyancy control, navigation, use of surface signaling equipment and buddy communication required for drift diving.

Search and Recovery course, you’ll learn how to find lost objects underwater. You’ll practice different types of underwater search patterns and learn how to use a lift bag as you plan and execute mock search operations.

Introduction to boat diving. This course will teach nautical terminology, boat diving etiquette, deploying a surface marker buoy (SMB), safely resurface, pack and prepare and manage seasickness.

This is the highest recreational diving certification.  This requires: Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, & five specialty certifications. and have logged a minimum of 50 dives.
